2020 Minnesota Twins Season Review

10/15/2020

When Spring Training was cut short we all knew we were in for a different season this year for baseball. Many believed we would not see a 2020 baseball season.
However, players and officials wanted to have a season so they proposed a 60-game season with an expanded playoff bracket.
Many were skeptical of the 60-game season as most believed that it would hardly constitute a season in baseball. But the season went on!

Quite the season it was for our Twins, as they started quite hot on the season. They took off well ahead of the rest of the division, sitting comfortably at 1st for most of the 1st half of the season. There was a point when the Twins had the best record in baseball. It seemed as though the team was clicking on all cylinders, and Buxton was healthy!
By the time midseason rolled around the Twins hit their now-typical midseason slump. They fell all the way down to 3rd in the division as they kept losing against Kansas City, Detroit and Chicago. They couldn't seem to get anything going for a while.
But as the season wore on, the Indians and the White Sox started to slump themselves and the Twins took advantage. Minnesota was a top 3 team in baseball in the final month of the regular season and took first in the division by just a couple games. The Twins earned themselves a 3 seed in the first 16-team playoff bracket in baseball history.
Unfortunately this did not end well and the Twins extended their postseason losing streak to 18 games, an all time MLB record. Not the greatest record to have on the books.
So this season did not end how we all wanted it to. It brings up a lot of questions with this organization, especially when hardly any emotion was shown in the playoffs. This team seems to be completely different and shy when it goes to the playoffs. So until this organization can prove it can win a playoff game I cannot take them seriously. This is ridiculous and something needs to change. I wouldn't be too surprised to see manager Rocco Baldelli fired this winter. I just don't know of a ton of ways to change this team other then pulling the whole thing up and start over, which would be painful but maybe it would fix this teams postseason problems.

Until next season,
Go Twins!
