2022 Minnesota Vikings Schedule Predictions

8/10/2022

Another year, another Vikings schedule release. Its also the only time between now and Training Camp that there is any interest in this team so lets see what we can do with it!

Week 1
Sunday, September 11 vs. Green Bay Packers (3:25 PM)
Minnesota will begin the season at home for the second time in the last 3 seasons, and also the 2nd time against the archrival Packers. This will be Vikings new head coach, Kevin O'Connell, first game in purple. The Vikings hope to stifle the always effective Green Bay offense. I think they lose the opener since that's usually how it goes when we have good things elsewhere.
Record 0-1

Week 2
Monday, September 19 @ Philadelphia Eagles (7:30 PM, MNF)
The Vikings will embark on their first road trip of the season to Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. Philly comes into the season off of a playoff berth last season that led to a loss in Tampa Bay. The Eagles hope that Jalen Hurts is their guy at QB. I personally think that Jalen Hurts will be gone in now less then a year's time. The Vikings win their first game of the year on the road.
Record 1-1

Week 3
Sunday, September 25 vs. Detroit Lions (12 PM)
Minnesota hosts their second division game of the year when the Lions come to town. Last year, Detroit finished with very few wins with one of them coming in Minnesota. This year, second year HC Dan Campbell hopes to turn things around in the Motor City. I think this one is pretty self-explanatory, the Vikings win this one handily.
Record 2-1

Week 4
Sunday October 2 @ New Orleans Saints (8:30 AM, London Games)
The Vikings will make their 3rd ever trip to London this year to play the Saints. If this game was played 4 years ago, this would be a big matchup to watch out for. However, the Saints are in rebuilding mode after future Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees retired and former HC Sean Payton retired last season. They have journeyman Jameis Winston as their starting QB. While this will be a closer game then most, I think the Vikings come out on top in the UK.
Record 3-1

Week 5
Sunday, October 9 vs. Chicago Bears (12 PM)
Minnesota will host yet another division rival this week in a game that typically takes place in the final week of the season. Chicago followed a similar pattern to the Vikings this past offseason when they fired their general manager and head coach. In fact, they hired a Vikings finalist for their GM. When Ryan Poles started, he mentioned that they would beat the Vikings this year. However, their offseason begs to differ since they seemingly come into the season devoid of much of any talent. QB Justin Fields hopes to have a better second season. I think the Vikings win this one by a long shot.
Record 4-1

Week 6
Sunday, October 16 @ Miami Dolphins (12 PM)
The Vikings will visit Miami for the first time this decade. They will meet a team on the rise down in South Beach. Third year QB Tua Tagovialoa hopes to continue his rise this year. However, I think the Vikings will play well in Miami and come home with a win.
Record 5-1

Week 7
Bye

Week 8
Sunday, October 30 vs. Arizona Cardinals (12 PM)
Minnesota will host the Cardinals for the first time since 2016. Last season, the purple had a rough game in Phoenix and lost a very close game. Unfortunately I think the Vikings will have to lose sometime during the season. Arizona wins this round again.
Record 5-2

Week 9
Sunday, November 6 @ Washington Commanders (12 PM)
The Vikings will go to visit the dreaded Fedex Field in early November. No team wants to play there including the team that calls it home. The Commanders don't seem to have too many great players this year. They traded for QB Carson Wentz this past Spring, but I don't think he will be the Vikings this year. Minnesota wins this one.
Record 6-2

Week 10
Sunday, November 13 @ Buffalo Bills (12 PM)
Minnesota will visit Buffalo for the first time in many years, and will play a different Bills team then the last time they matched up. It will also be Minnesota's first game against their former star WR Stefon Diggs. It will be a very close game, and a very entertaining game. This is one I don't think Minnesota comes out on top.
Record 6-3

Week 11
Sunday, November 20 vs. Dallas Cowboys (3:25 PM)
The Vikings will host the Cowboys in the 3:00 slot for the second year in a row. This year the purple hope for a better result then last year. With all of last year's failings I think the Vikings come out on top this year.
Record 7-3

Week 12
Thursday, November 24 vs. New England Patriots (7:20 PM Thanksgiving)
Minnesota will host a game on Thanksgiving for the first time ever. This year they will host the Patriots that are on the rebound. Their QB Mac Jones is hoping his second year is even better somehow then his first. This will be a tough matchup for the Vikings. I think its close, but Minnesota loses this one.
Record 7-4

Week 13
Sunday, December 4 vs. New York Jets (12 PM)
I don't think much needs to be said about this one. The New York Jets are consistently a failure. Second year QB Zach Wilson hopes to be better this year, but lets be honest it doesn't matter if he is better. Minnesota wins this one easily.
Record 8-4

Week 14
Sunday, December 11 @ Detroit Lions (12 PM)
Now Minnesota will play their rivals on the road. Typically the Vikings and Lions play close in Detroit. This year will be different I think. The Vikings win this one by a large margin.
Record 9-4

Week 15
Sunday, December 18 vs. Indianapolis Colts (TBD)
This will be the first time the Vikings have played the Colts in quite a few years. The Colts are riding with Matt Ryan at QB this year in hopes to revive some playoff magic. They have plenty of pieces, the question is if they can break through. I think the Colts will be quite good this year, but the Vikings are better. Minnesota wins a close one at home.
Record 10-4

Week 16
Sunday, December 24 vs. New York Giants (12 PM)
Minnesota will host the Giants for the first time since 2015 when Teddy Bridgewater led the Vikings to the playoffs. This time around, the Giants are a ghost of that former team. Eli Manning retired, New York has Saquon Barkely now. The Giants are not a good team, and won't be this year. Minnesota wins this one by quite a lot.
Record 11-4

Week 17
Sunday, January 1 @ Green Bay Packers (3:25 PM)
The Vikings will visit their archrival in Green Bay on New Years Day this season. It will be a cold game in the afternoon fading sun. This one will most likely have playoff implications tied to it. I think somehow the Vikings pull off the win in Lambeau. This also wins the Vikings the division.
Record 12-4

Week 18
Sunday, January 8 @ Chicago Bears (TBD)
Minnesota will conclude their regular season in Chicago, against the talentless Bears. While the Vikings tend to struggle against the Bears in Chicago, I think they win this one.
Record 13-4

Final Record: 13-4
I think the Vikings could win the division this year, they have had the roster for a while now just bad coaching. With even a semi-competent coach, the Vikings can make the playoffs and go further then that. I think Minnesota's ceiling for how high they could go this year is a 14-3 record and a berth to the NFC Championship game. Their low is probably 8-9 and missing the playoffs.

The Vikings start the preseason on Sunday, August 14th against the San Francisco 49ers at 3:25 PM CT.
