Game Summary:
This game started off terribly for the Vikings. They found themselves down 9-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. The offense couldn't get anything going and the defense was an embarrassment.
In the 2nd quarter the offense managed to get into the endzone with a toss from Cousins to Thielen. This in theory would bring momentum but it didn't seem to affect much. The Vikings did get the ball back twice before halftime and couldn't do much with it. The Jags did not do much else either. Going into halftime the notion was that if the Vikings can get something going on offense then they should be able to win this.
Coming out of halftime, Cousins decided to throw a pick six after Jacksonville kicked the ball out of bounds. So now the Vikings were very much in need of a touchdown. Fortunately this was in the cards for the Vikes, they drove down on a 8 play 75 yard drive to score on a 12 yard screen pass to FB CJ Ham!
This did not put them up but the momentum clearly had shifted. On the next drive the Vikings drove down again, this time Jefferson on the receiving end of a touchdown!
After this things got really ugly. The Jags fumbled on their next drive, which the Vikings drove down to the goal-line. This was only for Dalvin Cook to fumble on the handoff to lose the ball at the 1 yard line. Then fortunately the Vikings defense came up big and forced a safety as Glennon was sacked in the endzone! After this the Vikings traded punts with the Jags until Minnesota was able to kick a field goal. After this the Vikings defense allowed the Jags to go down the field and score and make the two point. The Vikings then proceeded to miss a 51 yard field goal to go to overtime.
In overtime the Vikings offense had its ups and downs. After receiving the opening kickoff they went 3 and out and punted away. After only 3 plays on defense Harrison Smith comes up with the big interception around the 50 yard line! The offense proceeded to march down all the way to the 5 yard line and Bailey punched in a 23 yard field goal to win the game!

Dan Bailey made a huge push to be fired this week, especially after missing 2 extra points and 1 51 yard field goal.

Also, rookie WR Justin Jefferson passed the 1,000 yard receiving mark today joining Randy Moss as the only 2 Vikings rookies to ever surpass the 1,000 yard mark!

Playoff Update
The Vikings are now firmly in the playoff race and could be in the playoffs this week if the Cardinals lose to the Rams! Minnesota is also at .500 for the first time this year!
The playoff picture is below:
Division Leaders:
1. New Orleans (10-2)-x (Receive bye)
2. Seattle (8-3)
3. Green Bay (8-3)
4. NY Giants (4-7)
Wild Cards:
5. LA Rams (7-4)
6. Tampa Bay (7-5)
7. Arizona (6-5)
First Four Out:
Minnesota (6-6)
San Francisco (5-6)
Chicago (5-7)
Detroit (5-7)

As a reminder we would prefer to see the Cardinals lose this week. But if they do not then we would still hope the lose but also hope to see the Rams and hope we beat the Bucs. Also we would like to see the 49ers lose!

Injury Report
RB Dalvin Cook did not miss any time this week from his ankle injury in last Sunday's game against the Panthers.
OL Ezra Cleveland returned this week from injury and played in today's win.
CB Jeff Gladney left today's game in the 4th quarter due to an undisclosed injury.
LB Eric Kendricks did not suit up after injuring himself in warmups today.
RB Alexander Mattison did not play today after having emergency surgery for appendicitis.

Up Next
Now the Vikings will go back on the road to play a tough Tampa Bay team led by Tom Brady! Kickoff is next Sunday, 12/13 at 12 PM CT.
