Game Summary:
The Vikings started the game pretty rough. Lots of 3 and outs in the first quarter by both teams. Both teams were held scoreless in the 1st quarter.
In the second quarter the Vikings opened up the scoring on a touchdown pass from Cousins to Thielen. The offense struggled throughout the rest of the half and the defense started sputtering as well. Going into halftime, Cincinnati led the Vikings 14-7.
In the second half, the Bengals came out and blew by Minnesota's defense to add another touchdown to the board leading the Vikes by 2 scores. Minnesota went three and out and went back to defense. Cinci however came out and tried to go for it on 4th down and the defense held them short and took over deep in Cinci territory. The Vikings proceeded to score on 4th down and brought the score to a 7 point game. This was a Cousins-Thielen connection again.
The Bengals then drove down the field and kicked a field goal to edge the game at 10 points. Minnesota then drove down the field again and nearly had Jefferson's first TD of the year but the officials ruled him a yard short of the goal line. Dalvin Cook punched it in on the next play. This left the score at 24-21 with most of the 4th quarter still in play. The Bengals took over and used most of the remaining 8 minutes but stalled inside of 2 minutes. The Vikings took over with around 1:48 remaining in regulation. They drove down to the Cincinnati 43 yard line and Greg Joseph kicked a 53 yard field goal through! This tied up the game at 24 and sent it overtime.
In overtime it seemed neither team wanted to win. Both teams traded punts until Cinci drove down on the final drive of the game and kicked a 33 yard field goal to win it.
Another fun fact is that the Vikings committed 13 penalties today, 10 of those in the first half and 5 in the first 5 minutes. That is the most penalties committed by the Vikings since 2005.

Injury Report:
LB Anthony Barr was inactive in Cinci today dealing with a knee issue that kept him out of practice 2 out of 3 days this past week.
T Christian Darrisaw is inactive as well, dealing with a groin injury that limited him in practice this week.
QB Kellen Mond, CB Cameron Dantzler, TE Ben Ellefson, DT James Lynch, and DE Patrick Jones II were all listed as a healthy scratch.

Up Next:
The Vikings will continue their early season road trip when they head to Arizona to face the Cardinals next Sunday. Kickoff is at 3:05 PM at State Farm Stadium.
