Hah, I thought earlier was terrible. The Vikings just might be one of the worst teams in the NFL now.

WR:
J. Jefferson 9 rec 166 yds 18.4 avg 2 TD
A. Thielen 3 rec 51 yds 17.0 avg 1 TD
I. Smith Jr 4 rec 55 yds 13.8 avg
K. Rudolph 3 rec 47 yds 15.7 avg
K:
D. Bailey 0/0 FG 1/1 XP

Game Summary:
This has to be one of the most painful games I have ever watched as a Vikings fan. The main reason is that the last two weeks made me gain hope for this team. Made me think that we had a shot at the playoffs. This game confirmed my worst fears: this team is a lot worse then the last 2 weeks would suggest. There is really no reason to divide it up half by half, as most of the game was more of the same. Instead I will go over the offense and defense separately.
For the defense, as bad as the score looked this defense did not play that bad. They were put in terrible positions by the offense. When you have to start on your side of the 50 three times in a game, there isn't a ton that you can do as a defense to prevent even a field goal. Overall this defense is playing much better then the first 2 weeks. This defense is not what it was in 2017 and 2018, but it just might finish the season close to league average. That is good considering where I thought they would finish just 2 weeks ago.
For the offense, this rivals the Colts game as the worst game of the year so far. They finished the half scoreless for the first time this year. Cousins was out there playing like the Falcons corners were Jefferson and Thielen. His last pick wasn't completely his fault as the line wasn't holding up very well against the suddenly vicious Falcons pass-rush. Obviously he didn't finish without touchdowns, he had 3 garbage time TDs in the 4th quarter. The positives are that Jefferson had another great game that lifted him to the Vikings record for most receiving yards as a rookie in the first 6 yards (passing Randy Moss and Stefon Diggs). Thielen had an injury scare early in the fourth quarter before coming back later to catch his only TD of the day on 3 catches.
I will be completely honest, something needs to change here if these guys don't want to be embarrassed for the rest of the year. However, if the focus is now 2021 then Zimmer must start coaching for his job. I am 99% certain that if nothing changes for the rest of the year; Zimmer, Cousins, and Spielman will be gone later this Winter. I hope that management learns from this, but I have a feeling they won't. This is one thing the Vikings don't seem like they ever learn.

Standings Update
With the loss today, the Vikings are much less likely to make the playoffs. Technically they are not mathematically out, but they are quite close.
The Packers lost today, but Chicago and Detroit won. The Vikings remain at the bottom.

Up Next
Now the Vikings will go on their Week 7 bye. After the bye they will travel to Lambeau Field to play the Packers on Sunday, November 11. Kickoff is at 12 PM CT.
