Minnesota Hockey

Wild struggle in first couple weeks, record lows

I want to start by apologizing to my hockey fans, I have been very absent from hockey thus far. Mainly because the Wild keep disappointing me. I have barely watched more then a couple games this season. I plan on doing more as I am available.

The Wild have had a very sluggish start with a 4 game straight losing streak until they won in Ottawa on October 14th by shutting out the Senators. Then they lost 2 more which brings us to the most recent game where they beat Montreal by a score of 4-3.
I will not be doing a recap of all 6 games I have missed instead I will show you the stats of the players that have points so far this season.

Minnesota Wild
(In order of total points)
Skaters:
R. Suter - 1 goal, 4 assists (5 pts)
B. Hunt - 3 goals, 2 assists (5 pts)
J. Zucker - 3 goals, 1 assist (4 pts)
M. Koivu - 0 goals, 4 assists (4 pts)
J. Spurgeon - 1 goal, 3 assists (4 pts)
M. Foligno - 1 goal, 3 assists (4 pts)
M. Dumba - 1 goal, 2 assists (3 pts)
J. Greenway - 0 goal, 3 assists (3 pts)
L. Kunin - 2 goals, 1 assist (3 pts)
Z. Parise - 3 goals, 0 assists (3 pts)

Goalies:
D. Dubnyk - 6 GP (1-5), 160 saves
A. Stalock - 3 GP (1-1), 65 saves

If that paints a really bad picture you would be right. The Wild have been really hard to watch this season. They cannot find a rhythm and their wins are far and few between. Their losses have been absolutely abysmal. This terrible start has many fans, including myself, wondering if the Wild should start a rebuild. Obviously its really early for that as we are 2 weeks into the season. But it does become a valid question when the Wild have 2 games out of 8 so far this season, by far their worst start in many years. To put it in perspective, this start is one of the worst since the Wild started play in 2000.
Many still scratch their heads wondering why the former GM Paul Fenton let all of our talent go. As now the Wild have very little talent left and currently live in a weird limbo not knowing where to go with the team. I am sure the GM and owner wonder if they should just sell everyone off and start over or if they should try to bring in some good talent for the latter end of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter's contracts.
It is 2019 and the Wild do not appear poised for a playoff run if this play continues. Which its hard to believe that just 2 years ago the Wild were still one of the longest playoff streaks in the NHL. Lets hope they don't start the longest drought, that's one thing Minnesota fans know all too well.

The Wild are back in action this week on Tuesday, October 22 at home vs Edmonton, Thursday, October 24 at Nashville, and at home vs. Los Angeles.

Come on Wild!
Go Wild!
