Timberwolves Set For Draft Night 2020

11/17/2020

In this extremely weird year, the Timberwolves own the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
They are all set for draft night as they own the 1, 17, and 33 overall picks.

Rumors have been flying around as to who the Wolves may take.
Let me give you the run down about what the people are saying.

Anthony Edwards (SG - Georgia)
Lots of people, myself included, want the Wolves to take Edwards 1st overall. And of the other two on this list I would say he is the best fit for this younger team. He had the shooting talent to fit next to D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns and has the makings to supply the defensive rock we need.

LaMelo Ball (PG - Illawarra)
Many believe this is who the Wolves will actually take, despite many believing Edwards to be better. I strongly oppose this pick, didn't think this would have to be said though. I just don't want to dive into the Ball saga, as the Lakers can tell you how that worked out.

James Wiseman (C - Memphis)
Not many are saying the Wolves will take Wiseman but he has been called the best of this draft class and the most proven on the court. I would tend to agree with that statement. However, the Wolves do not need any centers or power forwards right now with star Karl-Anthony Towns already generating rumors he may want out if things don't turn-around in Minnesota. This leads me to my next point:

Trade The #1 Overall Pick
It is very obvious from KAT's actions that he may not want to be in Minnesota much longer if the team cannot turn things around. The fastest fix would be for the Wolves to trade an asset away to acquire another top 10 pick and then trade both of their top 10 picks for another star. In specifically one that can provide a defensive anchor for our two young stars. However, given what has happened on the trade market so far this offseason it is very unlikely the Wolves will go for this option. More likely at this point that Minnesota just drafts who they feel they need and hope that Towns stays or the draft pick provides enough value to trade for a medium star before the deadline this season.

Lots of decisions for this team this week. We will know the direction of this team by Thursday.

Hopefully fun times ahead!
