Timberwolves suffer first loss of the season after Towns-Embiid ejection

As a whole the Wolves have surprised a lot of people this season. It is starting to appear that Karl-Anthony Towns is a new beast this season and that, as long as he is healthy (knock knock), he may be able to carry the Wolves to quite a few wins. Now I will give Wiggins some credit, he did take over the game at home against Miami. In a way it felt like a revenge game in though our former devil Jimmy Butler was not on the court. I think for these guys, games against him will always be personal and for good reason. Butler put our guys on the map and then nailed them to the wall, I don't know about you but I would never take that lightly. This time we beat the Heat in convincing fashion minus Butler. Next time may be different but you can always count on Towns and Wiggins (maybe Teague too) having a personal game.

Now the game that was on Wednesday takes Towns to an all new level to me. Him and Embiid have been butting heads for years, both on Twitter and on the court. We all knew this was bound to make waves eventually. In Philly on Wednesday, it finally boiled over into an all out brawl. KAT and Embiid had been chippy with each other most of the night already and in the 3rd quarter Towns had enough and the two got intertangled and punches were thrown. Originally Towns was winning until the rest of the 76ers joined in and pushed them to the ground. Then as Towns was beginning to get up Simmons decides to put him in a chokehold! Now before this, the fight wasn't getting me upset. But once he did this I got really upset and mad that the refs didn't throw him out too. You don't get to get away with that. I knew that the eventual suspension would roll around to Towns and Embiid, but no discipline to Simmons. By the refs on the scene he was considered a 'peacemaker'. Obviously they didn't see the death-gripping choke hold after separating the two players. Both Embiid and Towns continued to go at it after the game on Twitter with each other exchanging quibs at one another. The biggest point I was able to draw out of this fight was that Towns got the better of Embiid. Usually the Sixers' big man is more reserved on social media and does not want to make a scene. This went out the window for Karl-Anthony Towns. He went all out and it just shows that Towns got into Embiid's head. I will have the video down below for you all to view.

Overall the Wolves have put up impressive stats in their 3-1 start to the season. Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging at least 25 pts a game and Wiggins isn't far behind just above 20 pts/game. Its been a great start to the season for a Wolves team that expectations were not very high for this season. It is still a shame that Towns will now be suspended for 2 games. But it should give him fuel to run off of when he returns at Memphis.

Northwest Standings
As I have said the Wolves have surprised this season, before the loss in Philly the Wolves were atop the division at 3-0. Now the Wolves sit at 3-1 and second in the division just a half game behind Utah. Denver is also at 3-1, Portland is 3-2, and OKC is 1-2.

Up Next
The Wolves will now have to go face the Wizards in Washington and at home vs. Milwaukee without their star player. They will then finish off the week in Memphis when KAT returns and then at home to face an injury-plagued Golden State team.
