Bison Complete Regular Season

It has been a very tough and heartbreaking week so I do apologize for the lack of updates Bison fans.
The Bison Basketball teams finished the Summit League conference tournament last weekend and both teams did have quite the tournament.

Women's Basketball
The Bison women had a tournament like none since 2009! This women's team beat #3 Denver in the first round to advance to the semi-finals vs #2 South Dakota State for the first time since 2009. Now they did get blown out by the Jackrabbits but this is a huge improvement! Hopefully great things are to come next year!

Men's Basketball
The Bison men had a great tournament this year! They had a nail-biter against #8 Denver in the quarterfinals but they advanced to the semis vs #4 Oral Roberts! In the semi-finals they beat the Golden Eagles by a slightly larger margin. This advanced them to the championship against #6 North Dakota where they absolutely curb stomped the Fighting Hawks, who beat them up on UND's campus back in mid-February. This advanced them to the NCAA tournament for the 2nd consecutive year! This is the 4th time in 7 years that NDSU has made it to the NCAA tournament. This is also Coach Richman's 3rd trip with the Bison which makes him the most winnest Men's Basketball coach in school history!

Now unfortunately given the spread of the coronavirus the NCAA did cancel all tournaments for the rest of the academic year. So we will not be able to see this year's Bison team try to make waves in the big dance. Which personally I am very saddened about. While the Division 1 committee is trying to decide if they want to give this year's seniors another year of eligibility, it might be for the best if they just let them graduate and move on. It is really too bad but it might be for the best.

Very sad news but now we move on to next year. Thanks for a great year Bison!

Go Bison!
