Bison Sports Update: April 8th

Quite the week for Bison athletics!

Softball
NDSU Softball had some plans changed this week. Since Fargo was expected 1-2 feet of snow from Tuesday through Thursday, the team moved the planned home opener to Sioux Falls, SD. The Bison started out the weekend by getting blanked by USD on Friday, 8-0. Then on Saturday, the Bison cleaned up the doubleheader, winning both games to take the series (2-0, 5-4).
This week, NDSU will head back on the road to Brookings to play South Dakota State in a 3 game series. The action begins on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12 PM. The Bison finish up their South Dakota trip with the series finale on Sunday at 11 AM.

North Dakota State Softball is 7-2 in Summit League play and 23-13 overall.

Baseball
NDSU Baseball also modified their plans this weekend. The Bison were scheduled to play 23rd ranked Texas Tech in a three game series starting on Thursday. Instead, due to the weather, NDSU started the series on Friday in the late evening. The Bison won that game, 8-1 and shocked the Red Raiders. This was NDSU's first win over a ranked team since 2016! Then NDSU lost the next two games, 5-8 and 3-8. Not a bad showing for the Bison.
This week, NDSU will continue their road trip. On Tuesday, the Bison will head to Minneapolis to play Minnesota on campus. Then, NDSU will continue Summit League play when they go across the river to play St. Thomas starting on Friday and will play through Sunday.

North Dakota State Baseball is 4-2 in Summit League play and 8-22 overall.
