Bison Sports Update: December 22

It was great week to a Bison!!

Football
NDSU Football hosted archrival South Dakota State for the FCS semifinal playoff matchup at the Fargodome this weekend. The Bison started the game off on the right note, scoring a touchdown on the opening possession. Unfortunately, the Jacks would score soon after. SDSU would score again early in the 2nd quarter to take their first lead of the game. NDSU would punt and it was looking like the Jacks might be able to take a 2 score lead on the Bison. But then NDSU's defense poked out a fumble and recovered it. The Bison would use that to go down and score a touchdown to tie the game up at 14 going into halftime. The 3rd quarter would end up being lots of punts from both teams. Early in the 4th quarter, NDSU broke the ice again and scored yet another touchdown. SDSU would quickly respond back to keep the game tied. But then, NDSU would orchestrate a 8 play, 75 yard drive that will go down as one of the most important in Bison football history. It was capped off with a spectacular one handed grab by Bryce Lance (who had all 3 receiving touchdowns on the day) for a touchdown! NDSU would then have to defend against the SDSU offense. But for the second time this season, the Bison defense would hold SDSU out, this time with a crucial 4th and long sack!
The Bison are going back to Frisco for the 11th time in program history! They will matchup against top-seeded Montana State.

North Dakota State Football is 7-1 in MVFC play and 13-2 overall on the season.

Men's Basketball
NDSU Men's Basketball did not play this week with finals in play. This week, they will wrap up the year 2024 and non-conference play with a home matchup against Cal State Bakersfield on Monday night at 7 PM. This is a rematch of an earlier loss in California back in November.
North Dakota State Men's Basketball is 10-4 overall on the season.

Women's Basketball
NDSU Women's Basketball traveled to Seattle this week to play in the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington. The Bison would fall to the Huskies in the opening game, 51-64. NDSU would then defeat Boise State the next day in a close matchup, 70-66.
This week, the Bison will come home to host NAIA Dakota Wesleyan to wrap the year 2024 and the non-conference schedule.
North Dakota State Women's Basketball is 7-5 overall on the season.
