NDSU athletics had a rough week. But the new year begins with lots of hope!

Football
Yet again, football is on their break before the National Championship.
However, we will be recapping it a week from today! NDSU vs. Montana State is next Saturday, January 8th at 11 am on ESPN2.

Men's Basketball
NDSU Men's Basketball had two games this week, however the last one was cancelled (talk about that later).
The Bison hosted bitter rival South Dakota State on Thursday night. 3,408 fans were on hand to watch the best rivalry in North Mid-major basketball play out. NDSU competed early, drawing a lead as large as 10 in the opening 10 minutes of the 1st half. But SDSU's nation-leading 3-point attack starting rolling after that and ended the half with a 12 point advantage. The start of the 2nd half just got worse for NDSU. By around 12 minutes to go in the game, the Bison found themselves down by 20. This doesn't phase this team though, they roared back to tie the game at 80 with 4 minutes to go. However, the comeback bid fell short and NDSU suffered its first loss of the young conference season, 90-86.
The second scheduled game against South Dakota was cancelled due to Covid issues within USD's program. There is currently no plan to reschedule the game.

This week, the Bison will hit the road to take on Denver on Thursday at 8 PM CT. Then they will finish out the week visiting Omaha on Saturday at 12 PM CT.

NDSU Men's Basketball is 1-1 in Summit League play, and 9-5 on the season.

Women's Basketball
NDSU Women's Basketball has been having quite the rough start to their season. They started out their two game week in Brookings against rival South Dakota State. NDSU was able to keep pace with the Jacks for most of the first 2 quarters. But it just wasn't enough, and SDSU pulled away in the 4th quarter for a 60-77 defeat of the Bison.
Then the Bison headed to Vermillion to play league-leading South Dakota. Not much can be said about the Bison's perfomance as they dropped this one 38-65.

This week, NDSU will return home for their conference home opener on Thursday against Denver at 7 PM CT. Then they will close out the 2 game homestand when Omaha comes to town on Saturday for a 1 PM CT tip.

NDSU Women's Basketball is 1-2 in Summit League play, and 5-8 on the year.

Go Bison!
