Bison Sports Update: May 15th

NDSU Athletics had a good week!

Softball
NDSU Softball was in South Dakota for the Summit League championship. The tournament began on SDSU's campus for day one after being delayed due to severe weather. NDSU won their first game against North Dakota, 5-2. Then the tournament got uprooted again after severe weather knocked out power in Brookings. The tournament shifted to Vermillion on USD's campus and NDSU won their second game over Omaha in the 2nd round. Then in the semifinals NDSU dropped a game against top seed South Dakota State, 2-0 and then lost the elimination game to Omaha, 2-3. The Bison had one heck of resurgent season. They improved from 16 wins last year to 30 wins this year, I would say thats an improvement. Now by their standards this isn't a successful year, since the Bison are 10 time Summit League champions. But it was a decent year. Good season ladies!

NDSU Softball finishes the year 10-8 in Summit League play and 30-23 overall on the season.

Baseball
NDSU Baseball had a very good weekend at home in Fargo! The Bison hosted Northern Colorado this weekend for a three game series. NDSU already swept the Bears in Colorado, and aimed to do the same this weekend. They did just that!! NDSU started the weekend off with a 7-4 win on Friday. Then on Saturday they started off pretty bad but roared back to win 13-12 in the 11th inning on a walk off error! On Sunday they closed out the sweep with a 13-6 win. 
NDSU stays in front of the Summit League, with only three games to go.
The Bison will stay home this week and host league last Western Illinois for a traditional 3 game series Friday to Sunday.

NDSU Baseball is 15-4 in Summit League play, and 28-16 on the season.

Also, congratulations to both NDSU Outdoor Track and Field teams on a great Summit League tournament! The Men's team claimed their 13th Team title and the Women's team claimed second with multiple winners going to the individual championships!
