Bison Sports Update: May 1st

NDSU had a weird week.

Baseball
NDSU Baseball was scheduled to take on Valley City State at home on Tuesday and travel to Brookings for a series against SDSU over the weekend. The game at home on Tuesday got cancelled due to weather conditions. NDSU and SDSU played the series opener on Friday (NDSU won), but the ensuing two games got cancelled due to bad field conditions after rain on Saturday.
This week, NDSU will be attempting to return home on Tuesday to open Newman Outdoor Field against NAIA Mayville State. That matchup begins on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Then they will travel down to Coral Gables, Florida for (hopefully) the last away series of the regular season against the 6th ranked Miami Hurricanes. It will be an interesting series to see where the Bison land on the national stage at this point of the season. The series begins on Friday at 6 PM and will be broadcast on ACC Network X.

NDSU Baseball is 12-4 in Summit League play, and 24-13 overall on the season.

Softball
NDSU Softball was scheduled to travel to Grand Forks to play a three game series against UND this weekend. The opener ended up getting cancelled and a doubleheader was created for Sunday. Said doubleheader was moved to Fargo due to bad field conditions in Grand Forks. NDSU ended up splitting the two game doubleheader, both were rather high scoring affairs. The first matchup was a 10-11 loss, and the second was a 7-3 win. 
This week the Bison will stay home to host St. Thomas for the last games at Tharaldson Park for 2022. The series begins on Saturday at 12 PM.

NDSU Softball is 8-7 in Summit League play, and 26-20 overall on the season.

Also, wanted to shout out former Bison football players Christian Watson and Cordel Volson for getting drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft over the weekend! Brayden Thomas and Josh Babicz also signed undrafted free agent contracts. Good luck guys, Bison Nation will be rooting for you!
