NDSU Sports had a better week!

Football
NDSU Football did not play this week, they had a first round bye after getting the 2nd overall seed in the FCS Playoffs last weekend.
This past Saturday, Southern Illinois and South Dakota played in Vermillion for the right to play the Bison next Saturday. Southern Illinois prevailed in a lower scoring game. This will be the first time Southern Illinois has played NDSU since Spring 2021 where they broke NDSU's record win streak. SIU will also play every Valley team in the same year for the first time in a while. It is also the first time NDSU and SIU have met in the playoffs.
NDSU Football will host unseeded Southern Illinois in the second round of the 2021 FCS Playoffs next Saturday at 2:30 PM CT. It will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+.

NDSU Football is 7-1 in MVFC play and 10-1 overall on the year.

Men's Basketball
NDSU Men's Basketball had a good, but very interesting week. They started off with a home match against Division 1 newbie Tarleton State out of Texas. This was a very defensive game, as the score was Tarleton 26, Bison 23 at half. I haven't seen this aggressive defense played in the college in a long time. Tarleton played very a good man to man defense in the center of the court and a tough press. It really frustrated NDSU and forced them to only shoot outside. While the Bison weren't scoring much, Tarleton wasn't either. In the second half, the Bison were able to gain their first lead with 5 minutes to go. They pulled through in the final 20 seconds when Senior Rocky Kreuser hit 2 free throws to give NDSU the win! They defeated Tarleton 54-53.
Then on Saturday the Bison hosted Idaho for a post Thanksgiving greeting. There was no such greeting for the Vandals as the Bison handled them quite easily. They beat Idaho 90-73.
This week the Bison will have their hands full. On Tuesday they head to Omaha to take on Big East power Creighton, broadcast nationally on FS2 at 8 PM CT. Then they come home to host Northland College on Thursday at 7 PM CT.
We still haven't seen Sam Griesel on the court since the Concordia game as he did have abdominal surgery while the Bison were on the West Coast. He has been present at every game, just not suited up. Hope he returns soon!
NDSU Men's Basketball is 4-2 on the year.

Women's Basketball
NDSU Women's Basketball had one lone game this week. They hosted NAIA Dickinson State and clobbered them for a 95-42 thrashing. The ladies looked great in this outing but they have a lot coming.
The Bison will hit the road to take on Big 12 power Kansas State down in Manhattan on Monday. The game will be broadcast on Big 12 network on ESPN+ at 6:30 PM CT. Then NDSU will return home on Saturday to host Bradley at 7 PM CT.

NDSU Women's Basketball is 2-3 on the season.

Go Bison!
