NDSU Football Handles ETSU in FCS Quarters, Basketball Beats CSUN

Great week for NDSU Athletics!

Football
NDSU Football hosted 7th seeded East Tennessee State for a FCS Quarterfinal matchup at the Fargodome.
Definitely not as many people at the game this weekend but a much different game then last week.
The offense started off slow on Saturday and really struggled in the passing game all day. It was the defense that gave the Bison a shot today. They were able to stop ETSU on the majority of 3rd downs and captured an interception to give the offense a nudge. Finally the offense was able to score in the 2nd quarter off a TaMerik Williams touchdown! But the Bison were not able to achieve the 2 point conversion. Towards the end of the first half, NDSU scored on a 7 yard carry from TaMerik Williams again. They got the extra point this time and made it a 13-point game going into half.
NDSU got the ball to begin the 3rd quarter. While they didn't score right away, the Bison capitalized on an interception and scored on a Cam Miller run for a 3 yard score and increased the lead to 20-0. Closing out the 3rd quarter, ETSU did kick a 40 yard field goal. In the 4th quarter the Bison composed a long drive that saw Hunter Luepke score from 11 yards out. The Bison closed the game winning 27-3!

NDSU will now await the rest of the FCS Quarterfinals to see when they will play next week. Their opponent has already been decided with 3rd seeded JMU coming to town after beating 6th seeded Montana on Friday night.

NDSU Football is 7-1 in MVFC play, and 12-1 overall on the year.

Men's Basketball
NDSU Men's Basketball had an up and down week. They went out to Bozeman, Montana to play Montana State on Tuesday and lost 49-68. Then they came home on Friday to play CSU Northridge and handled them 68-54. This week saw the return of PG Sam Griesel to the lineup for the first time since early November against Concordia Moorhead. In the first game back he struggled. On Friday, he looked a lot more like himself. Rocky and Grant shared the player of the game both getting 14 points on the night. Rocky got himself a double-double!

NDSU Men's Basketball is 6-4 on the year.

Women's Basketball
The NDSU women went out to Tucson to take on national 6th ranked Arizona and lost by 14!  Pretty decent for this NDSU team! Then on Sunday, they visited Mountain West-Wyoming. They struggled quite a bit out in the Northwest, and lost 45-71.
This week, NDSU will come home to host Jamestown College on Sunday, December 19th at 1 PM. That will conclude their non-conference schedule. The Bison begin Summit League play on Wednesday, December 22.

NDSU Women's Basketball is 3-6 on the year.

Go Bison!
