NDSU Football Returns to Form as they drill UND 34-13

NDSU Football had quite the game on Saturday that had them routing then-2nd ranked North Dakota 34-13.

From the first snap it appeared that the Bison had the game under control. The first drive of the game for the Bison led to a 55-yard touchdown rush by sophomore fullback Hunter Luepke! From there on NDSU controlled the line of scrimmage, something that has been missing all season so far.

Once this drive had passed and UND was forced to punt for the first time of the day, NDSU began their next drive. They were able to pass midfield before Noland threw his first pick of the day, one that could easily have been a touchdown if it had gone the other way. But UND began a drive and did not score. They traded a couple punts before UND had their own touchdown off of a 75 yard touchdown scamper.
After the start of the 2nd quarter, Hunter Luepke punched in another touchdown from 8 yards out.

Finally we find ourselves with 1:35 to go in the first half. Senior QB Zeb Noland drops back and launches one for 63 yards to Junior WR Christian Watson for a touchdown to put NDSU up 21-6 going into halftime.

Coming out of halftime UND drives down the field and scores. Its NDSU 14 to UND 13. However we bring out the workhorse in Hunter Luepke and he punches in another touchdown from the 5 yard line to put NDSU up 28-13. This drive took up 7:23 on the clock and pulled much of the 3rd quarter off the clock.
As the game switched to the 4th quarter the Bison kicked their first field goal of the day. Place kicker Griffin Crosa drilled the ball through the uprights from 41 yards out which put the Bison up 31-13.
A couple of punts were exchanged. After an interception, NDSU drove down the field for another field goal, this time from 35 yards out which would prove to be the final score of the day at 34-13. UND punted one more time and NDSU ran the clock out to seal the 21 point victory for the Bison!

Takeaways
NDSU is obviously looking on a roll right now. They smacked both Missouri State and North Dakota. The did just sneak past Illinois State. This team has two more tests on their schedule to see if this team is ready to make a run for yet another championship. If the o-line and d-line can control the pace at the line of scrimmage again, this team will win the game 90% of the time. That is most of what has been missing from this team all year so far.

Next
Now NDSU will travel to Vermillion, South Dakota to play the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday, March 27 at 1 PM CT. NDSU moved up in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll this week, all the way up to 2nd in the country!

Go Bison!
